Since 2011, Sos el Arca Animal Rescue, Playa del Carmen, rescues street dogs and cats who are hurt, diseased and hungry. They receive veterinarian care and sanctuary until we find loving homes. Impoverished communities of Playa benefit from our monthly Spay and Neuter Campaigns to reduce the street animal population.

Remember our blind girl who was surrendered last year?
We are so thrilled to share the news that Ingrid (formerly called Marsha) was adopted! We couldnโt believe it when we received an application for her, as she is a special-needs dog and we thought that she might never leave the shelterโฆ.
But a special man noticed her among the other dogs and felt the connection! Love at first sight!
Miracles happen, and adoptions like this one make us hopeful. All dogs deserve to be loved despite their age or disability!
