Spay and Neuter Campaigns at Sos el Arca Animal Rescue, Playa del Carmen.

Central to the mission of reducing the suffering and starvation of street dogs and cats of Playa del Carmen, is the idea of spaying and neutering, also called sterilization.

Aside from the spaying and neutering of each animal that arrives to the shelter who are terribly diseased or starved, we have moved into the communities of Playa to help.

In 2022 our founder Sylvie Goetz, initiated community outreach sterilization clinics.
It has always been her vision to reduce the over population of street animals by offering traveling sterilization clinics.

For 3 dedicated days, in a different impoverished community of Playa del Carmen, we organize FREE sterilization clinics for pets. Or street animals in those communities.

During those 3 days (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) up to 450 animals are sterilized in that community of Playa.
As you can imagine, consistent sterilization campaigns will impact and reduce the overpopulation and disease of street dogs of Playa.

There is a team of veterinarians who fly in from Mexico City, who are specially trained in this style of boot camp, low-cost sterilization clinics. All over Mexico they provide these clinics, and we are blessed for these three days they work with us.
