SOS El Arca Animal Rescue:
Since 2011, Sos el Arca Animal Rescue, Playa del Carmen, rescues street dogs and cats who are hurt, diseased and hungry. They receive veterinarian care and sanctuary until we find loving homes. Impoverished communities of Playa benefit from our monthly Spay and Neuter Campaigns to reduce the street animal population.
We strongly believe that when we come together and join our efforts, beautiful things happen, that dogs leaves the shelter to go to their forever or foster homes!!!

Yesterday in front of our shelter we noticed a small dog wandering in circles. She didn’t have a collar or leash, and when we approached her she began to run away towards a busy road. Fortunately, we caught her and brought her safely inside!
She is completely blind! We can only imagine how she felt abandoned in front of our shelter, in an unknown place with unknown smells and unknown sounds… How scared she must have been! She was shivering and hiding her head between her front legs… It was heartbreaking to see her struggling so much…
We understand it’s hard to give up a pet you love hoping for a better life, but please take another step into the shelter and meet with us instead!

The shelter dogs love their time with volunteers. It’s their special treat! Receiving love and attention from volunteers 🛀 helps tremendously to get them used to human touch and to socialize them so they’re more adoptable.
